5/13/13 - Penn Commencement

Day #133 of lucky year 2013 - 5/13/13 - Commencement Day at Penn and Penn Nursing. So exhausted as ai stumble off to bed (I assisted at three Ceremonies in 24 hours, so that had to contribute to it) . But, it's a good kind of exhausted because I feel lucky to be witness to so much job and sense of accomplishment from these graduates (undergrad, masters, and doctoral alike) as they reach this important milestone. Graduation is always one of my favorite events, not, as someone said to me today, because I am happy they are leaving (many tears were shed by me today), but because I know that they did it. In some cases, WE did it. So happy to have been able to help, where I could, these brilliant hard-working people get to this point in their journey......hope they stay in touch, I miss them already!

Day #152 of lucky year 2013 is 6/1/2013. Day #152 of 2004 was also VERY lucky for us. Anna Victoria Sherr was born and what a joy she is and continues to be! I am so proud of how she is growing up - she makes me laugh, she makes me see the good in life, she makes me so happy. It goes without saying that what I feel lucky for today is this beautiful daughter of mine.

5/8/13 - Cleansing Rain

5/8/2013 - Day #128 of lucky year 2013. Today, I feel lucky for the cleansing power of rain. Sure, it was frustrating the way that Mother Nature played games with us today - sunny/pouring/sunny/sprinkles/partly sunny/POURING - but the rain seems to have washed away much of the pollen that has been causing me great nasal distress....so tonight, I am breathing better and for that, I feel lucky.

5/11/13 - Miss Shernoff's Wedding

Today was day 131 of lucky year 2013. Now, 131 is a palindrome so you KNEW it would be a good day. And it was, spent with family, meaning even more since I will be working much of the next two days (including Mother's Day) because of Graduation events.....I REALLY felt lucky tonight when Sarah and her mom, Winnie Walters were playing beautiful music at Miss Shernoff's wedding. Not only did their music move me (as it usually does), but I was able to see the joy in Anna and her friend's faces as they were able to attend the ceremony and see one of their favorite teachers get married. Best comment overheard "I am pinching myself so I know this is not a dream!" This pure joy is exactly what I feel a wedding should be about. And the music, and the girls' reactions brought that joy to the forefront. Amen!
