5/30/13 - 13 Year Penn Nursing Anniversary

Lucky 2013 chugs on, warmly, on 5/30/2013, Day #150 of lucky year 2014. And, 13 years ago, TODAY, I started working at Penn Nursing. I was 31 13 years ago (I like the way those numbers lie) and now I am 44. Palindromes abound! AND, in those 13 years, 5,411 different students passed through the School. I'd like to think I met most of them! If you include those who pursued multiple degrees, we have had 7,018 records in our files during those 13 years. Some days I wo...nder where all my email comes from, today, I guess the numbers tell the story . But, seriously, it has been a great 13 years and I have worked with some of the best people I have ever met, and I truly can say I love my job, and it is NEVER the same day twice. It may overwhelm me at times, but the Nursing School is my work home, and home sweet home it has been for 13 years! I have 23 more years and then I retire . Here's hoping they are just as interesting and fun as the last 13.

Day #152 of lucky year 2013 is 6/1/2013. Day #152 of 2004 was also VERY lucky for us. Anna Victoria Sherr was born and what a joy she is and continues to be! I am so proud of how she is growing up - she makes me laugh, she makes me see the good in life, she makes me so happy. It goes without saying that what I feel lucky for today is this beautiful daughter of mine.

5/8/13 - Cleansing Rain

5/8/2013 - Day #128 of lucky year 2013. Today, I feel lucky for the cleansing power of rain. Sure, it was frustrating the way that Mother Nature played games with us today - sunny/pouring/sunny/sprinkles/partly sunny/POURING - but the rain seems to have washed away much of the pollen that has been causing me great nasal distress....so tonight, I am breathing better and for that, I feel lucky.

5/11/13 - Miss Shernoff's Wedding

Today was day 131 of lucky year 2013. Now, 131 is a palindrome so you KNEW it would be a good day. And it was, spent with family, meaning even more since I will be working much of the next two days (including Mother's Day) because of Graduation events.....I REALLY felt lucky tonight when Sarah and her mom, Winnie Walters were playing beautiful music at Miss Shernoff's wedding. Not only did their music move me (as it usually does), but I was able to see the joy in Anna and her friend's faces as they were able to attend the ceremony and see one of their favorite teachers get married. Best comment overheard "I am pinching myself so I know this is not a dream!" This pure joy is exactly what I feel a wedding should be about. And the music, and the girls' reactions brought that joy to the forefront. Amen!
